Based on my VATSIM experience the current BATC flow that it ask the pilot for the gate everywhere in the world seems wrong. This seems to be mostly a thing in FAA land, while in other domains ATC does know your gate already and will automatically taxi you there.
So I would like this also to be the case that in Europe for example ground automatically gives you taxi instructions to its choosen gate. Obviously always with the option to request another gate if I want to.

We can take this to our controllers to see the real life practice - however the current flow works well for both fronts, changing this could introduce confusion and friction for those who always want a custom gate in ICAO land.
Will take internally for real life examples - thanks for the suggestion!

External programs such as BeyondATC can read the defined destination door or parking in MSFS 2024, usually through the SimConnect API. The information is temporarily recorded in the flight plan files (.pln) that the simulator creates or directly in the active memory of the program when the flight is loaded.
