To let you guys know, the traffic or user aircraft in MSFS does NOT have to stop when exiting the runway unless instructed to do so: When exiting the runway after landing, pilots generally follow a specific procedure to ensure safety and proper coordination with air traffic control (ATC). Here’s a summary of the standard steps:
Clear the Runway: After landing, the aircraft must exit the runway as quickly as possible at a designated taxiway. Pilots are expected to clear the active runway to ensure it is available for other arriving or departing aircraft.
Switch to Ground Frequency: Once the aircraft has completely exited the runway and is on a taxiway, the pilot will switch the radio to the ground control frequency, as directed by the tower controller. The pilot should not stop on the taxiway unless instructed to do so.
Contact Ground Control: After switching to the ground frequency, the pilot will contact ground control to request taxi instructions to the gate or parking area. This communication typically follows a standard format, providing the aircraft’s location and requesting further instructions.
Receive Taxi Clearance: Ground control will then provide specific taxi instructions, including the designated taxi route to the gate or parking area.
Follow Taxi Instructions: The pilot will follow the taxi instructions provided by ground control, monitoring and communicating with ground control as necessary.
In summary, you do not have to stop the aircraft after exiting the runway before contacting ground control. The procedure involves clearing the runway, switching to the ground frequency, and then contacting ground control for taxi instructions. However, it is crucial to ensure the aircraft is clear of the active runway before making this communication. I think the tower also gives them like the first couple of instructions then change to ground so the follow can continue (at least in aus they do) so like for example: “Qantas 234, right at A7, right on A, contact ground 120.0”.
