Like they do it at EHAM.
You fly the STAR to (for example) ARTIP, after ARTIP you get vectors. Right now it just tells you to fly the transition (allways the night transition..) and clears you for the ILS immediately after reaching ARTIP wich is not realistic.
The hard part is to make smart decisions based on low or high traffic congestion. BATC must have two goals: Guarantee traffic separation at all levels but at the same time allow expedite arrivals. I have seen progress in separation of traffic but it’s still not consistent. I still have to take speed reductions on my own. I see also all aircraft flying at aprox 150 TAS way before the FAF. Let’s change that to maintain 200 kts until 8 miles final or something similar. Today I was number 7 into 32R at LEMD. We were all hovering at 150 TAS 20 miles out. I had to use flaps 3 to maintain 4 miles separation almost go around again. 🤨
