I’d love to see ATC improved with following things, especially in EASA land, most of them will help in congested radio areas:
-Pilots only read back frequencies. EASA only wants you to read back the next freq given to you, not the name of the station
-ATC using “breakbreak” in busy situations
-Auto call on the next freq: at some airports, the charts state you should call up the next frequency by your own, e.g. on departure when passing 2000ft, contact departure freq without a handoff. Or at EHAM you call ground freq after landing on your own
-“callsign only” sometimes in busy airspace the controller hands you off to the next station with callsign only, so you don’t have to state your level or SID.
-quicker handoff to ground after landing, also an option to skip the gate choosing, so you would just announce on freq and they’d assign you without you having to ask for “company gate” which sounds a bit weird
