Incorrect approach vectors for ILS-Z RWY 28L at ULLI
Hi BeyondATC team,
I encountered what appears to be an issue with approach vectoring into ULLI (Pulkovo), ILS-Z RWY 28L.
Aircraft: PMDG 737 NG
Approach: ILS-Z RWY 28L
ILS: IPO 108.90
Final approach course: 275°
QNH: 1012
BeyondATC initially instructed me to fly heading 285° for vectors to the approach. It then gave me the following sequence of vectors:
HDG 285 → 305 → 360 → 060 → 095
During this sequence, I was also instructed to descend first to 2,500 ft, then to 1,000 ft.
Finally, BeyondATC issued:
“Turn right, heading 095, 1,100 until established, cleared ILS-Z approach runway 28L.”
This appears to be incorrect. The published ILS inbound course for RWY 28L is 275°, while the assigned intercept heading was 095° — exactly 180° opposite to the final approach course.
As a result, the aircraft was not positioned for a normal localizer intercept. The PMDG 737 was correctly configured for the ILS-Z 28L approach, with 108.90 / CRS 275° selected.
The assigned altitude also seemed questionable. BeyondATC vectored the aircraft down to approximately 1,000–1,100 ft before establishing it on the ILS, rather than providing a normal intercept geometry and altitude for the final approach.
It looked as though the vectoring algorithm kept turning the aircraft clockwise around the airport and eventually generated an invalid vector-to-final solution.
Could you please check the vectoring logic for ULLI ILS-Z RWY 28L, particularly the calculation of the final intercept heading and altitude?
Thanks!
