Randomize ATC little events (Altitude changes, Direct-To, Holdlings etc.)#24

B

Like IRL, ATC could ask for altitude changes, Direct-To, Holdings etc.
Would be great as an optionnal possibity to radomize such “events”

Maybe even ATC (clearance delivery) telling you they will contact you in x minutes due to them being busy…

This should already happen because of how the simulation works, but adding more consideration for what’s happening around you is planned.

This is very interesting. I don’t know if the natural flow of the AI traffic could lead into these situations by itself; I can imagine how the injector might filter out situations it does not understand very well, probably resulting in a tendency to dull traffic patterns. In any case, the capability to alter the frequency of unexpected or unfrequent events adds to the fun factor. Just as we can on some airplanes alter the frequency of, or trigger random failures. Perhaps the user DB can play a role here.

A quick share about how you could “realistically” reproduce STAR patterns.

1) Analyze dozen of FL24 tracks (I made my own tool for personal purposes, I can collect hundred of flightpaths and display them on a map for any purpose) and see exactly where do planes get directed between waypoints.

2) Build a decision tree that predicts the probabilities of the next fix based on the paths analyzed. This would obviously need to be automated.

3) Use this tree in BATC, which would then match the reality of the paths taken by the planes. It could then be applied to any airport and re-run at anytime to adapt to new procedures and learn new approching routes.

In conclusion, you would learn BATC how approaches are working for any specific airport and let it reproduce it. Altitudes are also recorded so you know exactly what level is expected at each waypoint, which is, in my opinion, one of the biggest issues with current BATC.

If you wanted to do a little easter egg - for people who monitor 121.500 on comm 2 - you could have atc and ai do infrequent little transmissions - I don’t think you’d want to do actual emergencies, but you could have ATC trying to contact a pilot who forgot to change their ferquency or something. Maybe you ATC helpers could help come up with some snippets?

I am a pilot in europe, on a busy schedule. I also love flight sim, and this is the main reason I do not use Beyond ATC. Infact i dont use any because not even Vatsim does it accurately. One of the most dufficult things is to fix a potential high or low situation due to ATC being unpredictable. Airliners are slippery and required experience and aircraft knowledge to fix a high and fast situation caused by ATC perhaps delaying your descend or giving you a high speed for the arrival as to slot you in as nr1. The perfect STARS and approachesin BATC are very unrealistic and does not represent the real world. I wanted to use it for training but quickly realised that I cannot. PLEASE consider this as a vital part of your program.

I disagree.

It shouldn´t be randomized but using logic.

There are reasons for all this: Aircraft Separation, sequencing or ATC switch. If you are climbing to FL380 and they clear you to 240 and there is no traffic above/ahead of you this would look really dumb, but if there is a traffic crossing ahead at FL250 that will look smart right?

Direct to, based on altitude or traffic. Some DP follow noise abatement paths or terrain clearance but at some altitude it becomes irrelevant. It also depends on traffic congestion.

Better to add a general switch for user to determine if they want to activate this function. Beacause some people will leave the computer after they engage the autopilot.
