Reserving a gate#668

Ability to select a gate before arrival via the UI, so the controller will directly assign you your desired gate when exiting the runway, and at the same time, knowing in advance where you have to go, the controller will tell you precisely which way to exit.

I agree

It would be nice, but not very realistic. Adapting quickly is an important pilot skill…

Yes it is realistic since pilots know their Gate before starting the descend and so they can plan on which runway exit it is best to vacate and also know approximately which way they can expect. Also it is pretty unrealistic after landing to block the runway exit and argue with atc which gate you want to taxi to or if they should assign you a gate randomly

We also need to have assign Ramp as well when we land Learjets and Cargo Planes. We can’t be assigned to gates that is only by Passenger Airlines from the ATC.

Here in Australia at least, convention is to state your gate number when first contacting Ground after vacating the runway (e.g. “[airport] Ground, [callsign], Gate [number]”). It could be worth having the system that exists now, but also the ability to just immediately state your requested gate number to save the discussion with ATC whilst trying to manoeuvre off the runway.

Regarding the comment about quick adaptation….. Remember that in real life there are TWO pilots, and normally the talk to ATC about gates and stuff is not done by the pilot flying ;-) - So some options to make sim-life easier just due to the fact that you normally as a simmer deal with everything yourself, I atleast think would be welcome, even though not 100% realistic. I would very much like to have the option atleast to have the gate assigned beforehand during approach, so I could plan ahead my runway exit, and save my passengers the pain of sightseeing the entire airport during taxi……And maybe this option could be possible to disable for those that want the hardcore experience and love the challenge of managing everything at once in hectic situations :-P

Agree with that. Especially if you´re flying a wide body to a medium sized airport (but can handle wide bodies MDPC f.e.) and to assure that a big gate is free.
