Use Navigraph data instead of MSFS#290

S

People spending 30-60USD on BATC likely have Navigraph itself. Wouldnt a switch to Navigraph solve many data problems of 3rd party airports?

Navigraph doesn’t contain Taxiway information via API. This is a known limitation.

Not everyone has the money to spend on Navigraph either. Maybe a better option would be to allow people to select Navigraph or MSFS as their data source. (Assuming the above taxiway information issue gets resolved ever.)

Please, DON’T do that !!

I personally can’t afford to pay 10 every month for Navigraph and like Qazme already said Navigraph dosen’t contain taxiways via their API. A better approach would be to let the community correct the missing or wrong data.

If you use the Navigraph hub to inject the AIRAC cycle into your sim, the sim is using Navigraph. The data issues come from the airports.

Why does SayIntention claim to use taxi data from Navigraph?

We will be using the sim as the data source for the reasons that we want you to see in the sim what you’re being told. Navigraph is a different data source and won’t necessarily match the sim. This was a choice made early on. We want what you see in the sim to match the instructions you’re given. This has nothing to do with Navigraph - they’re a great service and rejecting this request is not a reject to use Navigraph, it’s rejecting the idea of moving the data source outside of the sim. All the data should come from in the sim. If the data is wrong, it needs to be fixed, not exernalized where now we have two mismatching data sources.

Thanks Captain for the clarification. My action was prompted by Qazme’s remark…”Navigraph doesn’t contain Taxiway information via API. This is a known limitation” which it would seem is not accurate.

That remark was made on information over a month ago and before this was rejected, it was accurate based off sources at the time. I’m also the one who responded to you over on the navigraph forum with up to date information. The result of people continually responding here to things already rejected seems odd.

I get your point @Captain .

The problem is that the data in the sim that you consume is Navigraph’s AIRAC + airport scenarios

And as we all have seen since the release, the problem sits with the latter.

Navigraph contains information about frequencies and runways, for example, that you are currently reading from scenarios, and are very often incorrect.

The answer that we get? “It’s an issue with the scenario, we’re sorry but we can’t do anything about it”

Well, as a Navigraph subscriber, having to deal with this by knowing that the same data is available in a way more reliable way via Navigraph API (for example here: https://developers.navigraph.com/docs/navigation-data/dfd-data-format#airport-communication), is a bit annoying.

Hopefully you will reconsider this.
